Know-how

The design goes under the glaze, then into the kiln.

This is not a marking applied on top of the porcelain. It is a layer of glass fired over your logo, at over a thousand degrees — which is why it does not wear off in a professional dishwasher.

  1. Your file

    The logo becomes a design

You send your logo, preferably as a vector file — .ai, .eps, .pdf or .svg. We prepare it for ceramic printing: colour separation, fitting the artwork to the rim of the piece, checking for lines too fine to survive firing.

You receive a graphic mock-up before any production. Nothing is launched without your written approval.

  2. Printing

The design is applied to the piece

At the factory, the design is printed then applied to the already-shaped porcelain, piece by piece. This is the step that decides the exact position of the logo: in the centre of the well, on the rim, or at the edge.

The number of colours changes nothing in the process. A five-colour logo is produced like a one-colour logo, at the same price.

  3. Firing

The glaze on top, not underneath

The design is covered with a layer of glaze, then the piece goes back into the kiln. It ends up under a thickness of glass, safe from cutlery, brushes and wash cycles.

That is what sets a piece fired under the glaze apart from a surface marking, which wears where the plate is scraped.

  4. Inspection

Every piece is checked by hand

Out of the kiln, pieces are examined one by one: sharpness of the artwork, evenness of the glaze, flatness, finish of the foot. What does not pass does not leave.

The terms of sale allow a tolerance of plus or minus 15% on the quantity delivered: it comes from this sorting, and the final invoice is adjusted accordingly.

  5. Shipping

    Packed piece by piece

Plates travel separated by paper, wedged in crates, on a pallet or in parcels with tracking. On receipt, check the goods in front of the carrier: in the event of breakage, report it within 48 hours with photographs of the pieces and their packaging.

Allow 3 to 5 weeks between approval of the mock-up and delivery to your establishment.

An under-glaze design does not wear: the glass takes the knocks.

A marking applied on the glaze wears off where the plate is scraped, then washed, then stacked. Fired underneath, the design is never in contact with the cutlery.
